March Madness Recap

Summer's just been too fun and I haven't been blogging and my photos are all messed up and out of order and on different applications since some Google changes and I don't know how to get them straightened out so I can blog the way I'm used to, but whatever. Let's get to some recaps.

Back to March. The month of March Madness where I won my office bracket challenge out of nearly 200 people. But there was other stuff too.

I've driven by Coachmans a ton of times and was always intrigued and late one evening I went there for dinner and meh.


Fiiz the soda bar opened by my office and I'm there way to frequently. Dr Pepper with coconut and blackberry syrups is ah-mah-zing.

I got tickets to Carly Rae! Her album last year is seriously one of the best pop records ever, and I was excited to see her. I danced and sang the whole time and it was glorious. Don't knock it til you've tried it.

 

Trip to Provo means trip to Don Joaquin.

And a trip to Provo for a hair appointment also means stopping by to see the nieces after.  Best face, right?

Shopping.  I'm good at it.

Brittany at House that Lars Built had a coloring party for the launch of her coloring book, and it was so fun! Meghan and I went and I also got to see a handful of friends from my DC days. We spent the evening snacking on delicious things are coloring our hearts out. More photos are here.

DC 2nd ward!

Meghan and I hiked Bells Canyon one day for some therapy from the man problems in our life. I've still never made it to the waterfall, and there was a good bit of snow so we didn't make it this day either.

Utah gymnastics! I'd wanted to go for awhile, so Lacey, Celisse, Emily, and I got tickets to one of the last meets of the season. It's the best attended women's NCAA event in the country.

Meghan S and I hit up Daughter one evening and it was so, so beautiful. Please go see them if you have a chance. And it was the perfect night to be angsty about a recent break-up. Silly boys.

Taco tour! A friend was putting on a taco tour for a ton of people, so I rounded up some friends and made them go along. Three stops around downtown SLC and all were pretty good.

Meghan and I hiked Stewart Falls one Saturday when her sister was in town. Still so much snow!

Right after I had a babysitting date with these little ones.

It snowed more in late March. Ugh. I'm already dreading it again.

The Moth & the Flame came to town, so I went and met up with Caitlin. It was the end of a long tour for the guys. Always good to see them. And little did I know that I'd run into someone that night who I sort of knew, and we've been dating since right after that. Maybe that's also why I haven't been blogging as much?

One night of 80s dancing with friends, where previously-mentioned person I'm dating came out with us. First time hanging out with him, and yeah, sparks were flying.

Meghan stayed over after. I miss our slumber parties now that she's moved to TX.

Easter time! Lacey hosted at her new house, and I was supposed to bring deviled eggs and the first batch didn't peel well at all. Celisse saved the day with a new dozen, but it was a hassle. Tasted good though! Can't go wrong with bacon and chives.

I still visit my Iraqi family and they still feed me like this:

I saw Rams, which I'd missed at Sundance. Beautiful and somber Iceland.

East Coast Part V - Goodbye, DC

I finally pulled myself away from NYC, after a comfortable night in the W hotel and a rainy walk to the bus stop somewhere off 10th Avenue.

Hello, old metro stop! This time I stayed at Carol's house, right in my old neighborhood, a stone's throw away from my old house. 

Friday I bummed around the city, maybe had a lunch date (I don't remember?) and awaited the NKOTB concert that evening.  Got behind the scenes at the Verizon Center. I was most excited about the Hoyas locker room.

The NKTOB/98/Boyz II show was quite the spectacle. The people watching was amazing. I thought the bleachers were going to fall down because of all the jumping and dancing and such. Carol and I were amused for a bit, but then headed over to my favorite Zaytinya for a late dinner.

I got up relatively early on Saturday to meet Rob at Eastern Market. I was last there just before the big fire, and I'm so glad it's still running strong. Had to get those blue bucks!  Rob and I meandered through the stalls, Pedgerton stopped by on his bike and said hello, then Rob and I kept our journey going to the Library of Congress and the Capitol.

I love this building. It's spectacular.

And then, it was time to wrap up this wonderful trip! Back to Chinatown to grab my stuff.

One last Rita's before I went! Metro to Tenleytown, Kirsten and Lindsay picked me up, drove me to Dulles, and away to LA.
