Phoenix in April

I had another little trip to Phoenix in April, driven by the tickets I'd purchased for Sigur Ros. They've been on my list to see for quite some time, and with no LA dates announced due to Coachella, I had to venture to Phoenix to see them.

I arrived during another dust storm, and my car was dirty, dirty.

I met up with Kari Ann and headed to a Final Four watch party. Still mad that Georgetown didn't make it past the first round once again, but I guess I'll just have to get used to that.

Still hadn't washed my car.

Damian did my hair. And we talked through some art that he's been creating.

Shannon and I grabbed dinner at Windsor.  Man, I still love that brown bag chicken sandwich.

One early morning I worked from the pool.

And some ducks came by when I was leaving for the office.

Midweek I moved to Meg's house. We both purchased the same cardigan awhile back and had a face off.  She wins.

Somewhere in the week I had dinner with Chantal and finally got to meet her darling fiance, Nate. They tied the knot this last Saturday, and I'm so happy for her! Some photos here, courtesy of Katie.

Finally, the main event of the week. Once again, why am I squatting down in this photo? I've gotta stop.

The scene was quiet and reverent walking in, light low, and Oneohtrix Point Never opening. Pretty different from the last time I was at Comerica, seeing Katy Perry and her candy land.

I love the sweeping grandeur of their music, and literally, it took my breath away. I couldn't move for most of the show.

Saturday morning I grabbed brunch with Darryl at Morning Squeeze before leaving town. Fun little place, I'd recommend it.

Saturday night, back in LA.

April Adventures

I'm back from a nearly 3 week jaunt on the East Coast, and I really didn't want to leave. I think NYC is my next move, though not for a few months, if it happens. I'm going to explore options.

Alas, I'm back in LA, trying to get back in the groove of life, and it's time to catch up on blogging. Here we are in April. I got new bedding. I've also realized that in my latest clothing purchases, I'm really into blue and turquoise.

The Moth & the Flame moved to LA, so a bunch of us headed down to their free show at It's a School Night. First up though, Miner, who I quite enjoyed. They seemed quite southern, but they're from right here in LA.

There's Masato, Julie and David.

And Colin and Marcello.

And there's TM&TF.

I was late doing my taxes this year, so I had a little scramble a few days before the deadline. It wasn't as bad as I expected.

The Grilled Cheese Truck showed up for lunch near my house. I couldn't resist.

I'm not really a hiker, but Marcello twisted my arm into a nature walk, and we headed out to Sandstone Peak in Malibu. We caught it around sunset when the marine layer was moving in, and it was just beautiful.

We didn't go all the way to the top cause it was cold, windy, and getting dark. But we stayed long enough for awesome photos!

Pricey gelato on the way home at Grom? Delish. And Marcello spoke some Italian with the girl who worked there. The company hired her in Italy, paid for her move to LA and pays for her housing here. Authentic.

Oh, and one night Haleigh and I made dinner. She'd gone to the grocery store and mysteriously, a bottle of vodka ended up in her grocery bag. It wasn't on her receipt, just snuck into the bag. We used it as a centerpiece for awhile.  We were gonna give it away to someone who would use it, but the online reviews said it's pretty terrible.  We had a good laugh.

2023 Recap
