The Rest of February and into March...

Man, let's get caught up on this blog thing. Where can I abbreviate?

After finishing Ragnar on that last Saturday in February I had to drive to UT on Sunday. Whose genius idea was that? Mine, I guess. So tired, but I made it back to the snow.

Back to this cute little chubster face.

Since my CA lease was up at the end of March, I figured I could start looking for a place in SLC. Fortunately a friend in CA had moved into my place for a bit and paid a little rent, but I certainly didn't want to be paying rent in two places. Living with my brother was great, but I was ready for my own place and to be closer to work.  The first place I found on KSL looked awesome, so I called and left a message.

I went to see the condo one night, and to my surprise someone else came to see it that night. She'd been looking for awhile and didn't have any luck. I was worried about this competition! Maybe it'd take longer than I expected to find a place. The landlord also mentioned someone else was interested and had offered to sign a 2-year lease. Eeeek. I really, really liked this spot, but thankfully right after I left (and was off to see another place), the landlord called and told me it was mine if I wanted it. I guess doing an application early helped!

Time to start furniture shopping! I'd sold off most things, and I was ready for a fresh start. All new stuff, especially a new sofa. I went everywhere in Utah to find one, and let's just say the local style isn't quite to my taste. Thank goodness for West Elm and Crate & Barrel,

This Lounge sofa at Crate was the absolute most comfortable and wonderful sofa I sat on. For a few weeks, I'd go by once a week to test it out, just to make sure it was worth spending that much money. I couldn't find anything else even remotely close to what I wanted, so I took the splurge.

Within a couple weeks I had a couch on order, new bowls, Utah plates and driver's license, and a signed lease.

I'd miss getting this little one out of bed in the morning.

Last Friday in February, back to LA for the weekend to throw roommate Haleigh a bridal shower!

Whole30 - Halfway Done!

Today marks Day 18! I'm over the halfway point and on the downward slope. I don't know that this has been magical yet, but this part of the timeline was pretty correct.

I love my Sunday naps, but I didn't take one this week. Instead I hiked, and even at midnight I felt like I had a good few more hours in me. Energy! Also, all I wanted was a donut. So, so badly. I've been looking at donuts on the internet and dreaming of the day I can bake again. Maybe this will pass?

Despite those crazy cravings, I'm staying strong.

The good so far:
I do feel a change in energy.
I am sleeping well.
I don't feel the need to snack between meal (unless I  eat a small meal), and I don't feel that crash in the middle of the day. Body is shifting from burning off those sugars and carbs into burning fat!
The lime cilantro ranch dressing I made is SO good.

The bad:
A few recipes I've tried have pretty much sucked. I love soup, but these weren't good.
I've ended up eating the same thing over and over (stuffed bell beppers or zucchini noodles) cause I'm tired of trying new stuff.
So sick of cooking and doing dishes and always having to think really hard about what I eat. Plan, plan, plan, cause you can't buy just anything off the shelf when you're hunger.

A few challenges that weren't so bad:
The first day of the program I had a team work lunch at an Asian place and I couldn't eat a single thing on the menu. They didn't even have a salad I could pick around. Not too fun to sip water while 10 other people eat.

One night I put some stuff in the crockpot to make a lunch for the next day, and leftovers to take to my cousin's wedding, since I wouldn't have time to come home. Well, the crockpot didn't turn on. I scrambled for leftovers for lunch, but had nothing to take with me for dinner.  Ended up in a small town grocery store where I could round up some almonds, olives, guacamole, and maybe some dried fruit. Not the best dinner, but I stayed on plan.

Nov 5 - I'll be back to normal. Also the same day as a huge meeting at work that I'm in charge of.  Eeeeek!  Not sure how I'll want to eat when it's over. Will I be scared of sugar? Though I don't think staying off of it forever is realistic for me. We'll see what happens.

Musical Monday

I still love this song, and I'm seeing these guys again tonight for the 3rd or 4th time? St Lucia = so fun. And Haerts are opening, yay!
