Archives - February 2018

February, the month of love and the month of my love's birthday. And coldness.

Kicked off the month by watching the nieces for a few days while their parents were traveling. Anthony was working weekends at the hospital, so I rolled solo for most of it.

It was the first time watching both of them that I dared to venture out in public with two small children. We ended up doing a lot of fun stuff, so I can retain my title of favorite aunt.

H started to learn to read, so we had good book time.

Thankfully they play together pretty well.

We went to a very popular museum one morning before all the crowds got there. I ended up crawling all over things and through tunnels.

We braved the Cafe Rio line on a very busy Saturday night. They did so good waiting in line. And as soon as we sat down with the food, a potty break was needed. Try juggling that one by yourself.

We got cupcakes.

She is so gorgeous.

Uncle Anthony made it down on Sunday night.
Attempting to get Hamilton tickets for the SLC run.

Four devices, no dice.

School. Hardest class.

I colored my hair again.

A visit to Leatherby's. This pie is my favorite thing, however, since I have returned, they swapped out the Chocolate Almond ice cream (bomb delicious) for a mocha (yuck), so it's not the same on the menu.

Remember we had an Olympics in 2018?

My Valentines gift - my favorite things.

Anthony's birthday - we had fancy tea at the Grand America. One day several months earlier we were driving by the Grand and he mentioned that he'd like to go to tea sometime. I definitely never expected that to come from his mouth, so I made reservations and kept it a surprise. On the day of his birthday I told him to dress up and we were going out. He was very confused and it only clicked as we pulled into the parking garage. It was a fun afternoon in the middle of a hard time for us. Maybe someday I'll write about that...

They brought him and extra cake and played the happy birthday song on the harp. Nice touch.

New climbing shoes.

For Valentines dinner we went to Pago in the neighborhood, courtesy of a wedding gift from Tim and Nestor. It's always delicious.

Cookbook club! For February we did Smitten Kitchen and I made dijon braised brussels sprouts and caramelized onion and Gruyere biscuits.

Cold.

I forgot about this healthy dish - pita and hummus and veggies and chicken.

Didn't know it at the time, but I would end up in Hyderabad before the end of the year!

I'd also end up in Philly with Radiohead.

One of my favorite records of the year.

Chedda Burger. Delish.
