Musical Monday - Best of 2012 edition

I finally got around to making my "Best of" music mix that I've done for a few years now.

I've typically been very thorough in my assessment and presentation, but this year, time just slipped away from me and I just wanted to get something out the door (in April, pathetic).  Gone are the multiple volumes, carefully selected track orders, and extensive liner notes.  I also used to burn CDs for physical distribution, or shared files to download online.  Alas, times have changed. 2012 Year in Review

• Pairs of shoes purchased: 5 (2 pairs of boots, purple suede flats, red driving shoes, and a pair for my Halloween costume)
• Visits to 800 Degrees: at least 15
• Voting propositions studied: 13
• Afterparties crasehd/comedians met: 1 (Demtri Martin)
• Most proud moment: March Madness Facebook ballot ranked #14 in the whole country
• Netflix movies I liked: Jiro Dreams of Sushi, Monsieur Lazhar, First Position, Lemon Tree, Footnote, Katy Perry, The Queen of Versailles

• Concerts: 36 (why does that seem so low?!)

• Countries visited: 4 (Mexico, UK, France, Italy)
• Trips to Phoenix: 6
• Nights camping: 1 (my annual quota)
• Books: My list says 11 (that also seems low).
• Times I read the Book of Mormon: 1
• Magazines subscriptions: 6
• Friends added on Facebook: 67
• New things tried: Polo, abalone porridge, turning off all electronics at 1030pm 
• Boys kissed: 2.5
• Boys I didn't kiss that I should've: 2 (maybe)
• Photos taken: 10,676
• Trips to Disneyland: 13 (I think)
• Blog posts written: 195
• Trips to Utah: 3
• Easter Eggs found: 13
• Computers broken: 1
• New Years Resolutions made: 3 (more on that later)

2012, you were pretty good.  2013, I think you might be good. Great, even.

New Love

I haven't even had my iPhone for 24 hours, yet I am officially in love.

Why, oh why, did I hang onto my Blackberry for so long?  Contract, yes, fear of touch screen typing (I seriously hated it when I tried to use other peoples' phones), and I don't know what.  Loyalty?

So far, this is the best decision I've made in 2012.  Let's hope it doesn't remain that way, nor the best relationship I have in 2012.  Siri makes it EASY though.

Hello, 2012!

I suppose I feel a sense of renewal and fresh start and all that, but after traveling for 3 weeks, I'm pretty much overwhelmed at what 'getting back to real life' is going to entail.

I'd rather go to Disneyland tonight.  Instead, I'm making the responsible choice.

Maybe this is why I'm always in a funk in January?

I have about 3 suitcases worth of clothing to unpack.  Thankfully most of it's clean since I hijack friends' washing machines whenever I have the chance.  Seven months in my place and I've only had to succumb to the quarters laundry system twice.

I want to deep clean my bathroom (my mom probably just fell over).

I have mail and bills to sort through.

I need to finish my 'best of' music mix.  Friends are starting to think I've left them off the distribution list.  Nope! Just haven't had time.  It's becoming irrelevant the longer I wait.

I have ZERO food in my kitchen.  And after cooking delicious things with Tim last week in Mexico, I want to start recipe planning and cooking deliciousness a few times a week.  I need some new kitchen appliances.  I hear Macy's has a sale on Saturday?

I need to get back in the work groove.  Emails and projects are piling up!

No more clothes shopping for awhile - it's closet clean out time.

And probably right when I get back into the LA groove, I'm gonna go to Phoenix.  See you soon, Megs and Chantal.  And Katilda.  And King.  And Josh (I'm finally getting in iPhone - let's do a tutoral). And roommate.  And you, too, Emily!  

And if I'm going back to PHX, I need to schedule a hair cut and a teeth cleaning, cause I still haven't searched for good ones in LA.  That's the pain of moving.

I've got two or three draft blog posts from 2011 that I should finish.

Apparently I need to start watching Downtown Abbey?  I've got a full DVR to clean up, too.

All that, and I'm gonna go edit my Mexico photos (I managed to take 1000.  Eeeek).
